I bought my DM2 for the soul purpose of scratching. I thought it would be great to scratch any sound. You wouldn’t have to go buy custom records because you could make your own samples and scratch those. I learned you can’t do this with the packaged software because it uses its own file format and converting to TRK is annoying and sample length is limited. I found something alot better, its called Traktor and you CAN set up the DM2 to work with it. shinde
to mix mp3 with the dm2 you must get software that converts mp3 to trk which is wat the dm2 and all mixman products use. mixman.com has a program they offer for download, but it costs.the said software is not provided with the dm2. customer
The DM2 is an amazing buy. It offers the same features of more expensive turntables and the fact that is is entirely digital gives it amazing flexibility. Any .WAV or similarly formated file can become a track in your custom mixes. When coupled with MP3 reformating software (which is readily available for free online) and the machines ability to monitor 16 independant tracks, the DM2 can meet any future DJ’s needs. This is a terrific product for those wanting to try their hand at music mixing. Though its required computer connection may keep it out of some more serious DJ’s setups, even the most experienced DJ will find enjoyment with the DM2. This is a must buy for anyone who enjoys, or would possibly enjoy, mixing music. customer
A great game for education and fun. Teaches kids how to make their own music while inhancing computer skills. somebody
I love this mixer. It has so many features. but the main reason i got it is to mix my own songs that i’ve downloading. i haven’t been able to figure out how to do this. yei
when i purchased it, i installed it and the blue screen of death came up,i immediately uninstalled it, i hope they get a vista version for this gadget. derek

I’ve had the ION Discover DJ for about a week now and it’s been a great MIDI DJ controller so far. It’s highly usable with just the right amount of controls for basic mixing and scratching. For being mostly plastic, the device feels well built – with the knobs and buttons twisting/clicking solidly. The crossfader has a metal stem with a removable cap(!), and cuts smoothly. corporation
First off I want to say if you have been DJing for a long time this isn’t for you. This product is GREAT for people that what to know what its like to DJ but your no a pro or you don’t want to put up hundreds til you know your really interested. It has 2 jog wheels for scratching and such, a basic mixer and it comes with a software that is easy to use and yet you can make some series mixes on it. It is more then you would ever expect out of a $90 product!. thompson
Highly recomend after reading somewhat mixed reviews, but I have not been dissapointed. Also, the software update corrected a small issue with the response from one of the tables, hardware works just fine, may have been the problem in a review that someone left complaining about something simmilar. peter
I love this thing! I could really see how someone could really get good with this! I really feel that this can be used for any DJ! stephen
I purchased this item as a christmas gift for my grandson. He was absolutely thrilled and has said many times how much he enjoys using it. cusick

I’ve dallied with many combinations of DJ software for the past 13 years all of which have been good, but always show their short comings relatively quickly as to why they would not be reliable or suitable to use as a replacement to a bulky CD/Mixer Case or Rack for mobile gigs.
Well forget all that, you can use this little unit for ALL DJ gigs. Arguably it is marketed as being designed for entry level/enthusiast use while other models like the MKII or RMX are touted as being more suited for professional use.
With the exception of built in Headphone/Mic/Input/Output jacks, they are all the same (and the software that comes with it is a little less feature rich, but for $50.00 you can upgrade to Virtual DJ Pro). david
The good:
-Compact and portable, smaller than a 14 inch laptop (May also be a con, more on this at the end)
-Less than $130 (Unit, with software included plus USB sound card for headphones monitoring)and you are ready to DJ (assuming you have laptop, music and speakers).
-Fast response, not noticeable delay between pressing play and the start of the music.
-Intuitive software, bpm counters and graphical display of music that will make it easy for beginners (like me) to start beat-matching.
-Backlit buttons is a nice feature.
The bad:
-The included software is Virtual DJ DJC Edition. Unless you upgrade to the Pro version for an extra $250 there are going to be some limitations of what you can do with the software, the most important in my opinion:
-The software does not open if the unit is not connected. Big issue if you want to prepare music with your laptop without carrying the controller with you at all times.
-No skin customization (the default one is fugly)
-No keyboard shortcuts, makes browsing slow.
-Scratching, it does what a budget unit should do, but do not expect the plastic faders to survive heavy duty treatment. You would not be looking at this unit if you were interested in scratching anyway.
-knobs for pitch control instead of sliders, not a major issue for me since the unit has pitch bend buttons and the jog wheel can be used to adjust the tempo (when not in scratching mode).
-Due to small size is relatively easy to unintentionally press buttons. sanchez
This product is very user friendly, affordable, light weight, and easy to carry. It feels like the knobs and body of the device are made of solid durable plastic. marsaw
Numark has created a portable turntable that enables you to convert your vinyl to WAV or MP3. This rugged, portable turntable can run on either wall or battery power, comes with a cover with integrated carry-handle, and has an internal speaker for total mobility.
PT-01USB has an RCA line input so you can connect other sound sources such as tape decks and convert them to digital files too! RCA line outputs enable connection to your DJ system or home stereo so you can use PT-01USB as a standard record-player. In addition to the internal speaker and RCA outputs, you can also listen with headphones.
With 33, 45, and 78 RPM speeds, PT-01USB works with your entire record collection. There’s even a ±10% pitch control to help you optimize your tracks for whatever need you have.
Features:
Using the included recording software, no special drivers are needed to connect PT-01USB to any Mac or PC via USB and transfer music from vinyl to hard disk. EZ Vinyl Converter 2 (PC) and EZ Audio Converter (Mac) software are included to make recording and importing audio simple. EZ Vinyl Converter 2 imports your songs directly into your iTunes library, automatically separating tracks, and free, downloadable upgrade includes Gracenote® MusicID, which can even automatically name your tracks. PT-01USB also comes with Audacity software for editing your tracks. Audacity also helps reduce clicks, pops, and other noises from your recordings to restore the full quality of your vinyl.

Perhaps the only thing I would change is the fact that the table only starts spinning once you move the arm over it – there is no ‘start spinning’ button beyond the on/off switch. Also, there have been a few times when I accidentally dropped the stylus onto the metal surface and it’s left a visible gouge, and I can’t help but think that this kind of thing should have been somehow protected against. david
I bought the Numark PT01 for the purpose of transfering vinyl albums and 78′s to my PC for digital remastering and taking the scratches and noise out and then transfering them to CD’s. For the most part, I can’t complain. The turntable was easy to set up and use. At this point, I must give information about replacement styluses. Regretfully, Amazon does not sell these, so you’ll have to get them from other sources. Don’t worry, I’ll help you find them. Just Google the numbers you see below and you’ll quickly find sites which can sell you these styluses at very reasonable prices. foret
This portable record player is great to take record stores, listening parties, etc. I wouldn’t use it to try to entertain a party full of people, as the volume isn’t very loud. alana
This is a great little turntable. I have had it about two years and have never had a problem with it. starr
